Project Validation

General

Unreal Engine project using Blender, quixel assets, ultra dynamic sky and other assets. An exploration of level design, blueprint scripting and UI development. This project is not complete and most environments lack elements and the polish a game environment. I hope you can view these as experiments rather than complete game experiences.


Subway station



In this interior level design I wanted to explore quite intriguing environments you maybe witness every day. Subway stations are a utilitarian piece of design and many elements go unnoticed. When designing this environment it is important to consider the many different elements that go to make up the overall feeling. There were the modular ventilation systems, piping networks, decals, furniture, toilet stalls, marketing signs and more. All these assets one by one led to a greater feeling overall environment. Making the game world feel alive is a massive necessity for me and I designing an active train system that entered the station, interactable doors and taps within the bathroom. Dynamic physics hanging signs that could be influenced by the player and much more. As this project was quite vast I never fully completed the station to a level I would like however the experiment was fun.


Desert Environment

As a stark opposition to the interior environments I wanted to capture a sandy, deloate environment. I thought the juxtaposition of a train line landing in a desert would elicit a response from the player. I imagined the player wandering through the desert looking for supplies and water, happening upon a lake mirage.
